There are restrictions on how the amount, price and total can be entered on the buy and sell order forms as well as on our Web Socket/REST APIs.
Decimal precision is based on the following:
- Amount - The primary coin's decimal limitation (up to a maximum of 8)
- Price - The secondary coin's decimal limitation (up to a maximum of 8)
- Total - This will always follow the secondary coin's decimal limitation (up to a maximum of 8)
Why do we limit decimal precision
We limit the decimal precision in order to help our order books operate more efficiently by reducing the number of unfilled orders as traders continually jump in front of each other by a small fraction in the price.
Maximum decimal precision
Below is a table showing the maximum decimal values for amount, price, total, as well as the minimum trade total for each trading pair.
As we add more coin pairs, these values can change without notice and are not always updated. To view the most up-to-date values, make the following API call: https://api.chainrift.com/v1/Public/GetPairs
